Wendie Clemens, MA, LPC (OK #3401), is a licensed professional counselor who has been dedicated to the mental health field since 1989. She earned her Master of Arts degree from Southern Nazarene University in 2001 and became a licensed counselor in 2004. Over the years, Wendie has worked with a wide range of clients in various settings, including outpatient therapy for individuals, families, and groups; therapeutic support for children and adolescents in foster care and their families; and counseling services for court-involved individuals.
For 15 years, Wendie served in community mental health, working primarily with clients facing serious, long-term mental health challenges—often compounded by social isolation, poverty, limited resources, and the stigma surrounding mental illness. While this work was demanding, she found it deeply meaningful and credits those experiences with shaping her both professionally and personally.
Wendie believes that the therapeutic relationship itself plays a vital role in healing. She strives to create a warm, respectful, and collaborative environment where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered. In her view, therapy is a team effort: you’re in charge of setting the goals, determining what to explore, and deciding when you’re ready to move forward.
Her approach is primarily person-centered, meaning she tailors sessions to your unique needs and goals, while integrating evidence-based techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy and other modalities. She also incorporates practical coping and relaxation strategies to support your overall well-being. Wendie’s goal is to help you gain clarity, develop insight, and discover tools that support meaningful, lasting change in your life.
